Welcome to the no-frills homepage of the Minnesota Quiz Bowl Alliance (MQBA), an extremely loosely organized group of high schools, colleges, and other organizations that promote quiz bowl and host tournaments in Minnesota.
Congratulations to Chaska High School, winners of the 2009 NAQT Minnesota Championship!.All high school tournaments using NAQT questions are qualifiers for the 2009 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament to be held May 29-31, 2009 in Chicago. Some tournaments may also be qualifiers for other state or national events.
2009-2010 Minnesota High School Quiz Bowl league (October 2009 - February 2010) league tournament at four sites around the Metro Area using questions derived from NAQT's Invitational Series #89A. The West and North Divisions have started play, but teams may still register for the East and South Divisions.
Rebranded TOMCAT (TOMCAT IV) (January 16, 2010) at Roseville Area High School using a custom set from NAQT.
Carleton Academic Tournament (Snow CAT) (January 23, 2010) at Carleton College in Northfield, MN using NAQT's Invitational Series #90. For more information, contact Eric Hillemann.
Lake Conference Tournament (January 30, 2010) using NAQT's Invitational Series #88. This tournament is limited to members of the Lake Conference. For more information, contact Katherine van Schoonhoven.
Run for the Roses (February 13, 2010) at Roseville Area High School using NAQT's Invitational Series #91A. For more information contact Jane Aguilar.
Armstrong's Conceivably Regular Or Nearly Yearly Meet (ACRONYM III) (February 27, 2010) at Armstrong High School using a house-written set of questions. Unlike in previous years, this will be a popular culture tournament. For more information, e-mail Matt Quinn.
2010 NAQT Minnesota State Championship (April 17, 2010) at DeLaSalle High School using NAQT Invitational Series #95.
NAQT North Sectional (Region 10) (February 6, 2010) at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities). This is an NAQT Sectional Championship Tournament that will qualify teams for the Intercollegiate Championship Tournament.
