NAQT was impressed with the ability showed by community college teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Kansas at its 2008 Sectional Championship Tournaments (SCTs), but was disappointed by the fact that teams from only 5 of the 50 states were competing.

To help increase interest in quiz bowl among two-year colleges in new areas of the country, NAQT is offering free tournament questions to any institution interested in running a community college tournament during the 2008-2009 school year in any of those other 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands.

The questions come with the usual benefits of hosting an invitational tournament with NAQT questions including free advertising in the NAQT newsletter and listing on the NAQT online schedule. Please note that these tournaments would not be Community College SCTs and would not qualify their winners for the 2009 Intercollegiate Championship Tournament. In addition to this offer of free questions for invitational tournaments, NAQT is interested in creating additional CC SCTs in regions with sufficient interest.

Hosts will have their choice from NAQT's A-level invitational series of 12 packets with questions targeted at younger, less experienced teams, or NAQT's regular invitational series of 15 packets aimed at established teams. Samples of both kinds of packets are available on the NAQT website.
