Beginning with the 2002 Intercollegiate Championship Tournament, National Academic Quiz Tournaments, LLC has annually named a Community College National Champion.

All two-year, junior, and community colleges are eligible to compete and may qualify for the ICT by competing in NAQT's regular collegiate Sectional Championship Tournaments and/or at the specific Community College Sectional Championship Tournaments. The sites of the 2008 CC SCTs have been announced.

Teams from two-year colleges will compete in Division II at the ICT; the two-year college that finishes the highest in that division will be awarded the championship. If a team from a two-year college finishes first in Divison II, then it will be awarded the overall Division II title as well.
